I am Prathyaksha Krishna Prasad; my friends and family call me Prathya. I was born and raised in India and trained in Architectural and Urban Conservation. I have always been interested in Art and History, and even as a 10-year-old, I vividly remember being intrigued by the artistic pursuits of the people of great historic civilizations. Having acquired a professional degree in architecture, I sought to explore the relationship between heritage and our environment, and how contextually different perceptions and preservation methods emerge.

Art has been a part of this journey throughout, and I was intrigued to know how art can be impactful in creating awareness about heritage, helping learn about history and evolution, how it can physically transform a space, the energy within the space, and how it is being perceived and used by the people. Traveling and visually experiencing new places and cultures have contributed largely to orienting my interest in art and how it is related to cultural heritage. I often looked at how Art movements historically have created social and cultural impacts globally.

Now that I have identified my interest in exploring art and cultural heritage, I am working on becoming a full-time artist and an art educator. I think I can create an impact on young minds to think, examine, and learn from our rich global heritage and art, through impactful Art Education.

My artworks are a reflection of the artistic aspects of culture, tradition, heritage, and architecture. I draw from the little details and create compositions that follow repetitive patterns and vibrant colors. Now and then I also use my artwork to create heritage awareness, drawing from issues surrounding the topic. These compositions are abstract illustrations and sketches. Over the years, I have also equipped myself with knowledge and skills of different media and techniques. I have also attempted to understand some traditional Indian art forms, the materials used, and the techniques they follow. The heritage value of these traditional art forms is what drew me to delve deeper, and this exploration is endless.  However, my preferred medium is painting, specifically using watercolors. I love creating vibrant layers, detailed with intricate pen and ink marks and further embellished with heavyweight acrylics. I enjoy experimenting with different color palettes and creating unique compositions.
